The Houston Texans have opened up a can of both confidence and whoop-sum-booty over the past weeks.  Their plays have been consistent and the team appears to finally be on the same page as they continue to learn how to win games.  With the exception of “showboating” displayed a little today by Dunta Robinson.  (He demonstrated his dance moves after an interception, his first since returning from an injury last season; it was overturned and given back to the Bengals though.)  The plays were almost flawless other than that.  Slow and steady will win the race for our boys this season if they can maintain their consistency as they make more and more plays on the field.

They must continue to focus on one game at a time. One win at a time. One play at a time.  The final test of their worthiness will be the rematch with the Titans and they have quite a few games that will allow them to get ready for that.  They must build their strength and learn to ignore hostile crowds and defeat the enemy on their own turf.  It can be done, it will be done. I believe it.

Do you see what I see? I see a team putting the pieces together to make a playoff run.  Las week, Mario Williams an  his magic hands turned a quarterback into a running back in the game against the Jaguars.  The game came down to that of a coin toss in overtime and the hand was quicker than the eye giving the Jaguars first possession.  So what's next?  The Texans should be pleased with themselves and the accomplishment they had.  The offense is starting to get in place and flow.  Matt Schaub walked away with the respect he deserves proving that a good decision was made in choosing him to lead the offense.  We know all the players have the skill, why else would they be playing, starting for that matter.  The game is not a matter of simple skill it is a matter of heart.  The heart is what the fans tune in to see and as long as our boys continue to put their heart into the game, success will be achieved. one play at a time.  Play by play, day by day will yield success for our heros in red, white and blue.  Someone should have reiterated that to the relief quarterback today.  The Colts came back from a 10 to nothing loss.  Whether it was over zealousness, or inexperience remains to be seen. But the fans were let down on their own home field today.  There is still reason to celebrate when you compare their performance to last year.  last year being behind by ten points at the beginning a Houston Texans fan would have never seen a comeback.

The Texans will cause a major upset, by going to the playoffs this year.  This team has heart if nothing else. Once they learn how to win again.  After weeding out the players that were not giving it their all from last year, and rebuilding a team riddled with injured players, the Texans are now ready to bring things together.  Finding out what their weak points are in the beginning of the season will prove to work toward their favor and help them make a comeback just like they did last year.  They will have fourteen consecutive games to get it right.  (Yes, I am an optimist)

In their defeat against the Titans, it was obvious quarterback Matt Schaub was trying to get his head in the game.  One thing that also showed through was coach Gary Kubiak’s obvious frustration with his first string quarterback.  If  Kubiak had been a pimp, Schaub would have probably gotten back-handed. Despite his frustrations though, he kept is star quarterback in the game and his confidence and decision making abilities seemed to improve even after he threw the interception that ultimately cost them the game.  What the Texans need to do now is monopolize on their weak points.  Use their weaknesses and turn them into strengths and ultimately cause the other team to use their own strengths against them. Kind of like a Judo Master uses the strength of his opponent against him.

Just as any over zealous parent would want to see their child strut their stuff, I am ready to see the Houston Texans play.  Yes, I know they will be playing fifteen games back to back, but maybe that is what they need to pull things together and make it to the playoffs.

Who am I you might ask?  I am simply an over zealous fan wanting to see the underdogs of football ban together and succeed.  This team has both heart and skill. The only problem is the heart and skill have not figured out how to dance together well enough to make plays.  I believe they were able to weed out the players that did not want to be there and are now left with a team that will make the grade for the franchise.  Here's to the new goals that have been set and the finely tuned band of brothers that will make it happen.
