According to ESPN the Dallas Cowboys have released Terrell Owens. Thank God!!!

There are a few things to look at over the next few weeks. One, where will Owens end up? Two, how will this affect the draft and Roy Williams? Three, who will become the replacement in the Cowboy's receiving courps?

In my estimation, the keys to this story will be:

The Cowboys will be in the Anquan Boulden sweepstakes.  The cowboys will have a chance to get younger and tougher while improving their chemistry if they can land the Arizona Cardinals' talent.

Patrick Creyton may step up, but that isn't Jerry Jones' style. So, look at Boulden or a splash in the draft like Jeremy Macklin or even trading up for Michael Crabtree. My money is on Anquan Boulden.

The votes have been tabulated. The computers have crunched the numbers. The craziness that is the NCAA college football regular season is over and the bowl match-ups have been chosen.

Unless you live on Mars or spend all of your time reading Teen Magazine, you already know that Florida will play Oklahoma in the BCS national Championship game. You probably also know that teams like Texas and USC will have to wait until the 2009 for a chance to win the trophy. In fact, there are SEVEN one-loss teams that could perhaps make an argument that, at the very least, their fans would listen too.

There are also two undefeated teams that could do likewise. However, they have now been beaten down so long that they are like a dog at the pound.  They just want someone to pay a little attention to them. They don’t seem to care if they go to a home that abuses them, ridicules them, and treats them like an unwelcomed guest-they just want to be fed and watered every day.

Houston Texans fans, I know that you are down, but last week was a good one. With their first Monday Night Football appearance the Texans played great football.  Changes may be in the mix in the off-season as the rumblings have grown louder. In the meantime however, stay loyal and true to your team. After all, that is what makes a true fan. (Of course you could ask the Chicago Cub fans how that is working out for them.)

What I am about to say here may sounds strange, or maybe not, but think about this solution to our BCS predicament.  This could clarify and validate the BCS selections, the National Title Game, provide some great excitement, set a precedent for that kind of excitement, and get the ball rolling toward a college football playoff.

All of this can be done without us coming up with a magical but complicated playoff system (at least not yet). The bad news is this may be too late for this year. I will admit also that I am not sure if NCAA rules would allow it. My personal experience has to do with sports like high school basketball and track, but if those rules are even similar, then this would be it.  A 2008 “Holy Grail” to fix questions such as:

So here we are. One week before the end of the NCAA Football regular season the BCS has already claimed a victim. As Oklahoma leapfrogged the University of Texas to claim the number 2 spot in the BCS, Longhorn fans have gone looking for a nice padded room.

The Oklahoma Sooners can thank the BCS voters and those "equations" that are at the heart of the computer rankings for their fortune. Let's not also forget that the Big-12 itself decided that the BCS standings would be used in a three way tie-breaker. In this week's BCS standings Oklahoma was ranked 2nd, the University of Texas-3rd, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders were 7th. They all finished 11-1 and they all beat each other in a round robin that was very entertaining.

With the Holiday Shoppers out and the economy in the tank, the wolves are out. . .Happy Holidays, and oh-Watch Your Back!!!

While surfing the internet recently, I have come to a sad conclusion-the Apocalypse is UPON US! The number of morons in America is staggering. I wrote a column several weeks ago talkling about what would happen if a star quarterback like Tony Romo was injured during the season.   Although the comments I have recieved here have been insightful,I was lambasted by some on other message boards for claiming that he indeed was injured. I found it laughable that they could not understand that a question was being raised. (Article is found in September Archives) Romo wasn't hurt. We all knew that. Now he is -  as well as Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, and Brodie Croyle. My staments on its effects on a team have also come true. But I digress.
